Regulating Anxiety and Problems with Neurofeedback

As long as there is feedback between the situation and the target, people can learn almost anything. Many functions of our body and mind are not controlled consciously, but automatically. If a function is not working properly, we have no direct influence on it and therefore can hardly train.

With biofeedback we can measure a biological parameter, and in this way make it accessible to our senses. To achieve this, acoustic and visual signals are used. Through feedback, we can modify our brain function, and brain processes can be detected through an electroencephalogram.

Neurofeedback and its benefits

Neurofeedback is based on the measurement of brain activity by means of the electrocardiogram and this information is returned to the brain (feedback) through visual and auditory animations. This procedure is used as a treatment for some brain dysfunctions.

The feedback is administered through different sensory channels at the same time; for example, a complex visual game. At the same time, an appropriate background music is used, which is modulated with the brain activity. It is important to note that this is a non-invasive method.

With this method, the brain learns to regulate itself in a more effective way, and the person can regulate their anxiety, depression, pain, attention span, concentration, etc. The ultimate goal is to achieve a state of comfort and well-being.

People of all ages can benefit from Neurofeedback. It is a support procedure to medication, but it cannot replace it. In spite of that, in some cases, it is necessary to reduce the medication, so it is advisable to talk to the doctor about Neurofeedback.
