Achieve perfect breasts

When talking about breast surgery, people immediately think of breast enlargement. However, there are surgical operations not only for breast augmentation, but also for breast reduction or beautification. “Obviously there are different types of surgeries: augmentation, lifting, reduction and reconstruction are the basic ones. However, each patient has an absolutely personalized indication, and that is so because it is very difficult to find that both breasts of a woman are completely symmetrical,” explains Dr. Vicente Paloma Mora, a national and international specialist in Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery. According to the doctor, there are two clearly differentiated groups of people who request breast augmentation: “girls between 18 and 25 years old who have not developed breasts and women between 35 and 45 years old who have had children and have lost the volume and smoothness of their breasts”.

Undergoing surgery…

Breast surgery does not usually entail great risks: “The only thing that can worry us is the appearance of capsular contracture (the sensation that the breast is harder to the touch than normal) or prosthetic rupture (something that, with today’s prostheses, is extremely rare), assures Dr. Paloma. As a general rule, these are operations that do not usually present complications, although it must be taken into account that, like all operations, they require a prior and subsequent evaluation. “The entire process, from the operation until normal life can be carried out without effort, lasts about four days. And, within a month, you can lead a completely normal life,” adds the doctor.

Breast implants

Recent news about the possibility that PIP (Poly Implant Prothèse) prostheses may be harmful has led many women to become interested in the different types of implants that exist. “The most commonly used prostheses are those made of high-cohesiveness silicone gel, which can be round or anatomical, depending on the result the patient is looking for. Those are the ones to use,” assures Dr. Vicente Paloma.

If you wear PIP prostheses….

“The advice of the Ministry of Health is that women with PIP implants go to their surgeon for closer controls. My personal advice is that, without rushing, they should plan their replacement,” explains Dr. Paloma.
