Back pain, a problem of visceral origin

Back pain can have multiple causes. These are problems related to the biomechanics of the back, such as disc disease or disc herniation, although this pain can also appear after trauma, especially in car or motorcycle accidents (Whiplash) or a fall on the coccyx (sitting), the latter being very pathological. Despite the frequency and high incidence of this problem, day by day we are seeing that one of the major causes of back pain in our patients have a visceral origin.

Treatment of back pain

An early diagnosis is important, since the main consequence of back pain, if it is not treated, is its chronic nature over time. We must prevent and educate our patients to come to the osteopath with some speed and that this acute pain does not become chronic, because if it is, the process of resolving this pain will be more difficult and costly.

Although back pain can be treated in many possible ways, we bet on osteopathy, since it leads us to the origin of the injury and allows us to treat it. The osteopathic treatment will be different and individual for each person, since, as we have said before, the cause of back pain can be due to a musculoskeletal or visceral problem, etc.

Indications for the patient with back pain

Once the patient has undergone osteopathic treatment for back pain, he/she should follow no other indications than to lead a healthy lifestyle. A change in diet is recommended, as well as regular exercise if they had previously led a rather sedentary life. If necessary, the patient should reduce weight, and also adopt good ergonomics in their daily life as a form of prevention to prevent the problems from recurring.
