Food Intolerance Test

The food intolerance test is a test that by means of a blood sample to which some reagents are applied (each one has a certain type of food selected, which are the 100 or 150 most consumed foods) it is possible to observe if any type of reaction is produced.

The test will give us a sample of foods that we tolerate and do not tolerate. It will not tell us what we are allergic to. One thing is an allergy and another are the foods that we consume and that are generating an intolerance in our organism.

Clinically, intolerance manifests itself with inflammation at the intestinal level, because when food is not absorbed well, it generates inflammation and fluid retention. And, in the long run, they can cause a series of pathologies related to some type of allergic symptomatology, although milder, such as headaches, rhinitis or atopic dermatitis problems, etc., in other words, related.

The test and weight loss

The food intolerance test is used for weight loss, although it is not a weight loss test. If we eliminate the foods that we do not tolerate, digestion will be better, toxins and liquids will not be retained and, therefore, we will lose weight. However, it is not a test for weight loss, because there are patients who out of 100 foods can be intolerant to 2 or none.

It is not an essential test, although I personally recommend it, because when preparing a diet it is important to take into account whether the patient is intolerant to any food. It is always a good tool to elaborate a diet with which the patient feels better. There are many people who have headaches or who always have itchy eyes, hives or eczema, and it turns out that it is because there is a food that is causing that small immunological alteration.

The most intolerant foods

Generally, the foods to which we are most intolerant are those we have consumed the most. For example, we generally consume a lot of wheat and therefore have a high degree of wheat intolerance.

Food intolerances in children

In the case of children, there are intolerances that appear because there is an immaturity of the digestive system. When children are not ready for a certain food and we give it to them and they do not assimilate it well, they become intolerant. For example, children who are introduced to fish very early.

In principle, we are not born allergic to anything. We become allergic over time. Our immune system reacts to things that will provoke a reaction but, according to allergists, we become allergic over time.
