On which areas of the face can I apply hyaluronic acid?

The face loses elasticity over time, its symmetry and balance are altered and it becomes less flexible. Hyaluronic acid is a synthetic molecule that infiltrates the skin and restores lost volume.

The main areas of the face on which it is applied are:

  1. Lips. In this area hyaluronic acid provides hydration and volume and elastic hyaluronic acid is usually chosen to better adapt to the tissue.
  2. Cheeks. In this case, dense products are used and applied in depth to achieve a natural replenishment of volume.
  3. Between the eyebrows. This is a delicate area due to the number of vessels that irrigate the area, since embolization of any of them could cause tissue necrosis.
  4. Crow’s feet. This is another of the most delicate areas due to the presence of lymphatic vessels. Compression may cause edema.
  5. Dark circles under the eyes. Applying hyaluronic acid in this area is a technique that must be performed by an expert and requires a great knowledge of the anatomy of the area.

How long does the treatment last?

The absorption of hyaluronic acid is greater in vascularized areas such as the lips, but more complicated in cheekbones and dark circles. However, the final result will depend on each patient’s ability to degrade the acid.

It should be remembered that hyaluronic acid degrades naturally over time thanks to the presence of the enzyme hyaluronidase. It can be used in cases where the final result does not convince the patient.
