Why do I get sores in my mouth?

Canker sores are small wounds or ulcers that appear on the mucosa of the mouth, both on the inside of the cheek and lips as well as the tongue. They are characterized by a whitish central area delimited by a reddish halo, they do not usually exceed half a cm in diameter and are usually very uncomfortable. They usually heal by themselves within a week.
