Treatment of spider veins with liquid cryosclerosis

What is liquid cryosclerosis treatment?

Sclerosis encompasses various types of treatment that aim to collapse the small variculas or superficial spider veins, usually on the legs, so that they are no longer visible and thus solve the aesthetic problem they cause. To do so, these small variculas are accessed by means of a puncture with an extremely fine needle and an irritating or sclerosing liquid is injected into them (hence the name: sclerosis).

There are different types of sclerosis depending on the size of the vein and the sclerosing liquid used, as well as its condition. In the case of smaller varicose veins (spider veins or variculas), we use a sclerosant that is introduced at very low temperature, in liquid form (liquid cryosclerosis, as opposed to foam sclerosis). It has the advantage of obtaining better results in this type of veins than other techniques.

For which persons or pathologies is it recommended?

Cryosclerosis is mainly an aesthetic treatment, since this type of veins do not usually cause great discomfort, given their size and volume. For this reason it is indicated for those people who suffer from varicose or spider veins of small diameter, regardless of their extension or the number that may be in the legs, and who suffer an aesthetic discomfort because of them.

What indications should be followed before and after treatment?

Patients undergoing liquid cryosclerosis are explained the care they should take before and after each treatment. Generally speaking, they are advised to wear elastic stockings after the treatment (for one week) and to avoid sunbathing on the sclerosed areas to avoid pigmentation or other complications, which are unusual anyway.

What are the advantages over other techniques?

The main advantage of this treatment over other techniques is that it offers very good results in the treatment of smaller varicose veins (spider veins and varicose veins). It removes them much more effectively and the occurrence of complications (pigmentation or allergy) is exceptional.
