Tuberous breast operation

Tuberous breasts are an alteration of the natural shape of the breast due to a lack of development of its base. This is recognized when the breast is not shaped like a crescent at the level of what corresponds to the bra band. The tuberous breast can have different degrees, but ultimately it is not a rounded breast, and even, in severe cases, it looks like a tube.

This problem is due to the formation of a fibrous ring in the mammary gland that traps the skin. This is what prevents the expansion of the gland and, when the breast tries to grow despite the fibrous ring, a large, disproportionate areola is produced, or what is called a “lollipop” areola.

Can I get a natural, rounded breast?

The tuberous breast is a very common pathology that should not be treated as a conventional breast augmentation, since this could produce permanent defects in the shape that, instead of being corrected with breast augmentation, become more visible, like the effect of a magnifying glass.

Even so, in the hands of a good professional, the diagnosis of a tuberous breast is clear and a completely different surgical approach will be performed. Its correction consists of redistributing the mammary structures to adapt them to a more harmonious position in the patient’s thorax. In many cases it is necessary to implant a breast prosthesis that can be anatomical in order to compensate the defect of the breast in the lower part. The intervention lasts between 2 and 3 hours, since it is a laborious work that requires a restructuring of the entire breast.

The objective is a result as natural as possible, with a rounded and harmonious lower part, which is achieved by eliminating the fibrous ring and redistributing the gland to cover the breast prosthesis as much as possible.
