Treatment of varicose veins by endolaser

Endolaser is the minimally invasive treatment technique for larger caliber varicose veins described by Dr. C. Boné.

This technique for treating varicose veins is performed by introducing an optical fiber of a diode laser into the light of the vein, proceeding, under echo-Doppler control, to the occlusion of the vein and consequent definitive and effective solution of the varicose vein. This is basically how the endolaser technique for varicose veins is performed.

Mode of action

The effect of the endolaser is produced because the blood has the ability to transmit the laser energy practically intact to the surrounding structures. The laser energy produces a photocoagulation reaching a temperature of 85 ºC with a vaporization and coagulation effect inside the vein.

Steps of the technique

1. Ultrasound-guided drawing and marking of varicose veins.

2. Local anesthesia

3. Introduction of fiber optics

4. Emission of pulses of energy by the laser into the vein.

5. Ultrasound verification of varicose vein occlusion.

The treatment of varicose veins with endolaser is a safe method that is done on an outpatient basis and with immediate return to work.
