Biofillers: autologous facial fillers with fat or PRP

There are several techniques that can delay the appearance of the signs of aging, take care of skin damaged by external agents or rehydrate it. However, all of them have in common the use of chemical products. The novelty is to be able to achieve results similar to those obtained with the injection of hyaluronic acid, peelings or mesotherapy but without using anything artificial. These solutions are called “eco-touch-ups” and are minimally invasive procedures that are made from the patient’s own fat or blood or platelet-rich plasma.

What exactly are biofillers?

They are autologous facial fillers, i.e., filler material made from the patient’s own fat or blood. This means that it can be used as a filler material in the desired areas of the face. The most common are the nasolabial folds, chin, cheekbones, malar and lips.

In the case of fat fillers, the donor areas to extract the adipocytes can be the thighs or the abdomen. For platelet-rich plasma fillers, a blood collection is sufficient.

The process is the same in both cases: with a depurative process the material is obtained to infiltrate in the desired area.

Where are biofillers injected?

They are injected in any area that can be filled. The great advantage is that there is no possibility of rejection of the filler or probability of allergic reaction. In fat fillers the results are (unlike those of hyaluronic acid), permanent.

Normally biofillers are used in:

  • Static wrinkles
  • Glabellar wrinkles
  • Filling of dark circles under the eyes
  • Rhinomodeling
  • Cheekbone augmentation
  • Nasolabial fold
  • Marionette lines
  • Lip augmentation
  • Chin augmentation
