Ultrasonic Rhinoplasty: Faster Recovery and More Natural Results

Ultrasonic rhinoplasty is a nasal reshaping surgical technique in which high-precision ultrasonic saws and files are used.

This technique has allowed greater control when modeling and cutting the nasal bones and also allows the surgeon to preserve vital structures of the nasal dorsum with the intention of obtaining natural results. This allows to obtain an aesthetic result and a faster recovery with fewer complications in the postoperative period.

Benefits of ultrasonic rhinoplasty

Ultrasonic rhinoplasty allows to obtain more precise and natural results, since the piezoelectric scalpel offers a very high precision to the surgeon. On the other hand, it reduces bruising, as well as bleeding, edema and swelling. In this sense, the main benefit of ultrasonic rhinoplasty is the remodeling of the nasal bones without breaking them and in a less traumatic way.

In which cases is it indicated?

Ultrasonic rhinoplasty is indicated for any type of rhinoplasty, with irregularities or asymmetries, without uncontrolled fractures even in fragile or unstable thin bones. The result is a natural and harmonious appearance, which does not draw the attention of an operated nose.

How is the procedure performed and what postoperative care should be followed?

Ultrasonic rhinoplasty lasts approximately 3 hours. Rhinoplasty is usually performed under local anesthesia and deep sedation. Our anesthesiologist Dr. José María Bausili has more than 20 years of experience in this type of anesthesia and working with the same surgical team of Clínica Rinos, local anesthesia with sedation allows the patient to go home after surgery with the care that our medical team will indicate.

After the ultrasonic rhinoplasty and during the first 3 days, swelling may occur in the face. However, there will be less bruising around the eyes than in conventional rhinoplasty. After this time, the face practically recovers its natural appearance, so the recovery will be faster.

Regarding the aesthetic result and the return to activities, the first days the patient should be in relative rest at home. He/she can go out for a short walk and lead a practically normal life, but the nasal packing must be maintained for about 48 hours and the splint for a week. Obviously, you should avoid activities that may jeopardize the result. The risks of ultrasonic rhinoplasty are minimal and similar to those of the conventional technique.
