The Multiple Benefits of Ozone Therapy

Intrarticular ozone therapy allows great results, thanks to its analgesic and anti-inflammatory action, in terms of osteoarticular problems. These frequently occur in patients affected by the polio virus.

The knee joint is one of the most affected, producing severe pain and instability. These symptoms usually occur after the age of 50 years, although in some cases they may appear earlier.

When oxygen or ozone is administered intrarticularly, we manage to reduce pain and medication. This treatment is performed on an outpatient basis and has no adverse effects. Generally, about five sessions are performed on average.

Ozone therapy is effective against:

  • Low back pain
  • Deformities such as those caused by scoliosis – Postural alterations
  • Postural alterations – Dysmetria
  • Shoulder pain
  • Neck pain due to use of crutches

What is poliomyelitis?

Poliomyelitis, also called polio or infantile paralysis, is a severe and highly contagious disease that affects the nervous system. It severely affects the nervous system, producing paralysis in the legs, and can even cause death by paralyzing the respiratory muscles.

In the 60’s there was a great epidemic of poliomyelitis in Spain that affected thousands of children, who now suffer different sequelae as a result of this pathology.

In addition, infection by the polio virus can cause the well-known post-polio syndrome, characterized by fatigue, low tolerance to cold, progressive muscle weakness, sleep disturbances, etc. These patients will also develop muscle and joint pain with age. Those affected in the 60’s by this virus may also benefit from having a treatment with plasma rich in ozonated growth factors.
