Treating Cellulite in Smokers

In any case, the first thing we recommend is to stop smoking, but until that day comes – which is near – of not smoking, the treatments to attenuate the harmful effects of tobacco on cellulite are: carboxytherapy, shock waves and infiltrations with Alydia.

What is cellulite?

Cellulite is the increase of subcutaneous fatty tissue that forms nodules and its fundamental mechanism is an alteration of the subcutaneous connective tissue with increased viscosity of the ground substance, decreased venous-capillary and lymphatic circulation and fibrin production. All these functional and physiological changes produce disorders of the fat cells, circulatory disorders, and connective tissue.

How does smoking affect cellulite?

Beyond cellulite, it is worth remembering that tobacco consumption behaves in our body as the most powerful oxidizing agent that exists and is harmful to all the organs of our body.

In the connective tissue, cigarette smoke contains a mixture of highly harmful chemical products such as ammonia, methanol, acetylene, acetylene, formaldehyde… and these substances generate an increase of free radicals in the tissues accelerating the destruction of collagen which is the most important structural protein of the skin.

Tobacco also produces carbon monoxide in the blood which reduces the oxygen transported in the blood, increasing oxidative stress and consequently decreasing the skin’s own natural hyaluronic acid.

Tobacco also decreases the levels of Vit. Another reason is that it reduces the quantity and quality of collagen and elastin and fibroblasts, causing an increase in dermal atrophy.

In the circulation, the components of cigarettes increase oxygen consumption by the tissues and at the same time contribute significantly to a slowing of capillary, venous and lymphatic microcirculation, causing an early aging process of the skin and subcutaneous tissue, as well as early aging of all organs in general.

In fat, the fat cells increase in size because they become puddled as they are unable to eliminate the waste they generate due to slowed circulation and in some places collapsed, which results in a decrease in the quality and quantity of collagen that hardens the tissues and causes fibrosis that encloses the fat cells. These fat traps are what we see externally and are popularly known as orange peel.

Carboxytherapy

Carboxytherapy consists of a subcutaneous CO2 injection that increases the amount and speed of blood flow improving microcirculation and lymphatic drainage in the treated area. This produces an improvement of the metabolic reactions causing a decrease in the volume of fat.

Acoustic or shock wave

They are highly energetic acoustic waves of oscillating form and with high frequencies. They produce a vibration that breaks the fibrous septa present in the tissues with cellulite and also generates vasodilation and lymphatic drainage of the area, as well as a stimulation of the metabolism of fat cells, decreasing their size.

Alidya

Its formulation has been designed to solubilize and dissolve toxic extracellular elements; alkalinize the extracellular matrix; improve tissue oxygenation; provide the necessary components for matrix reconstruction and normalize the physiological function of adipocytes in adipose tissue. Alidya is composed of a mixture of amino acids and a metal chelator, associated with an alkalinizing system of the extracellular space, capable of restoring balance to the structure of the adipose tissue.
