What is a facial lipofilling?

As the years go by, people’s faces show some signs and symptoms of aging. This occurs because the tissues gradually lose their elasticity, so the volume of fat is also affected.

In the case of the periorbital region, wrinkles, sagging, loss of intensity and attitude in the gaze, can be treated with lipofilling, obtaining very positive results.

As such, lipofilling is a facial rejuvenation technique based on the use of autologous fat as a filling and skin regeneration material. With it, it is possible to smooth expression lines, recover lost volume in the middle third of the face and improve the quality of the tissues.

How is lipofilling used?

To obtain the fat it is necessary to use a small liposuction, with which it is aspirated -at low pressure- in localized fat deposits of the patient. Subsequently, this fat is prepared and purified to be injected in other areas through fine cannulas.

When the fat has been obtained, depending on the type of preparation, we speak of different types: microfat, nanofat, emulsion or SNIF.

These techniques make it possible to change the different proportions and control the volume applied in each of the areas. With lipofilling, no chemicals are injected, but the patient’s own fat is used to inject it into the desired areas.

In which areas can lipofilling be applied?

There are several locations where lipofilling can be used.

  • Dark circles under the eyes and cheekbones. It is used in cases where there is malar atrophy and where the lower eyelid is very long, dark circles are very marked and there is a flattening of the facial oval.
  • Between the eyebrows. Frown wrinkles between the eyebrows give the patient an appearance of bad mood that may not correspond to reality. Lipofilling treatment inhibits the contraction of the frown muscles with botulinum toxin injection, and then autologous fat is injected to correct the wrinkle.
  • Temporal region.
  • Tail of the eyebrow.
  • Lips.
  • Nasolabial folds.
  • Marionette furrows.
  • Mesoplasty.
