One Day Dental Implants

What does the same day dental implants application consist of?

The same day technique or application of dental implants in one day means that a patient who comes to our clinic, M&M clinic; we are going to do a 360° service, in which in 24 hours we are able to extract all the pieces that are missing or in poor condition, recover the bone, condition all the bone surfaces, place dental implants and dental fixations, and place teeth. In other words, the patient leaves in one day, in 24 hours, with all his teeth in place. This is a great advance compared to traditional techniques because, of course, we are not talking about temporary teeth. We are talking about fixed, permanent teeth, with high quality materials.

What advantages does it offer over other methods?

The advantages of placing teeth in one day, of the same day technique that we do in M&M clinic are multiple. This treatment has a powerful emotional charge, very powerful. It is important to know that the patient leaves in 24 hours with a new set of teeth, a functional and esthetic set of teeth, just as it was done before a treatment of many months. It has multiple advantages: it has biological, psychological and even economic advantages, because first of all the patient does not go through this phase of being toothless, of seeing his dentures mutilated. It has a biological advantage because we have higher rates of integration of our implants when we place the teeth and we place them in function the same day. The tissues adapt much better to the dentures. And it has significant economic advantages because we can minimize costs. It is a treatment that has all the conditions to be the star treatment in implant dentistry today.

Is it a definitive treatment?

The vocation of the treatment with same day prosthesis is the vocation of being long lasting permanent teeth. We place long lasting permanent teeth of a very strong titanium-based composite or acrylic material that in the great majority of cases function as definitive prostheses and that will have the typical wear that any of the definitive dentures of the same style that are made today have. There are some cases in which the dentures can be replaced after two, three, four years with monolithic titanium or monolithic composite dentures that are much harder. But, as I say, most cases do not need this last treatment.

As for the postoperative care that a patient has to have, I can tell you that it is minimal. We, during the first 24 hours, take care of the patient, we pamper him, we have him here in our clinic, we have a recovery center, we apply a mask that keeps the body at a constant low temperature, making a lymphatic drainage, to reduce inflammation. In addition, our interventions are done with the presence of an anesthesiologist. This, in addition to reducing tension and intraoperative discomfort, also reduces inflammation and improves the postoperative period because we apply anti-inflammatory medication before, during and after the operation.

What care should the patient take after its application, and is there any risk involved?

The risks of this intervention are the typical risks derived from any intervention that involves local anesthesia, such as the one that would be used to extract a tooth and that has no major risks, i.e., there may be risks of slight bleeding, inflammation and any risk arising from a minor surgical intervention as is usually the same day intervention that we do in M&M clinic.
