What to do to compensate for the Christmas excesses?

After Christmas, we may have gained a few extra kilos or we may not have exercised as much as we should have. Dr. Folch explains what we can do to compensate these days of excesses.

Brown rice cleansing diet: diuretic, volume-reducing and hepatic rest

The brown rice depurative diet has 4 different stages or phases, with a minimum and maximum time for each one of them. The basic food is brown rice. The use of salt and/or spices will depend on the state of health of each person and their tastes. It consists of the combination of the different foods that are recommended in the different phases and distributing them in several intakes throughout the day. As a wild card you can take brown rice pancakes.

With this diet you get:

  • The dose of carbohydrates is sufficient or minimal so that ketone bodies are not formed.
  • It is sufficient in protein.
  • It provides a minimum dose of fats.

Objectives of the purifying brown rice diet and how long each stage should last.

The objectives to carry out this diet can be diverse:

  • Lose volume
  • Weight loss
  • Purification, detoxification and hepatic rest, etc.

The duration of each of the stages is variable and will depend on the objective sought. The total duration of the diet can vary from 5 to 7, 10 or 11 days, or even 2 weeks (if convenient, phase 4 can be extended). However, it should always be controlled by a good specialist in Nutrition and Dietetics.

As a depurative, diuretic, volume-reducing and hepatic rest diet, it can be used after large excesses or eating disorders. Some examples are: after summer vacations, Easter, post-Christmas holidays with many days of binge eating. But it can also be applied to people with high cholesterol or triglycerides, or for those who suffer from liver fat overload, etc.

It can be effective to perform it for 7 days: one day the first stage, two days the second stage, two days the third stage and two days the last stage. But it is the nutritionist doctor who will indicate how many days we should be in each phase.
