Alzheimer’s: the 10 warning signals

Movement disorders refer to neurological diseases with movement problems, either increased (tremors and ataxias) or decreased (Parkinson’s), and are caused by damage to the parts of the brain that control movement, mainly the basal nuclei and the cerebellum.

Their treatment will depend on the cause, but in general they respond to replacement therapy, such as implementing L-DOPA in parkinsonism, botulinum toxin in dystonia and electrodes to stimulate the affected areas of the brain. Rehabilitation is always associated to improve mobility.
