What are dental inlays and onlays?
Dental inlays are very small portions of restorative material, which are used to restore parts of teeth that have been lost.
These inlays are applied when there is a significant level of tooth loss that cannot be restored with composite or fillings that are performed in less severe cases. This treatment is more conservative than a dental crown, but it is an alternative that is frequently recommended to patients.
Dental inlays and onlays are usually done largely because of large caries, major fractures or a previous restoration in a defective situation that needs to be replaced.
What results can dental inlays give us?
Dental inlays make it possible to reproduce the morphology of the tooth to perfection, which allows the esthetic result to be very good. The materials with which the inlays are made do not wear out and do not require the removal of healthy tissue, as it is a minimally invasive treatment.
