Blepharoplasty, what it is, its results and recovery

When we talk about blepharoplasty, also known as eyelid surgery, we refer to cosmetic surgery of the eyelids. Obviously, depending on which eyelids are to be operated, it is a different procedure. In the case of the upper eyelids, excess skin and fatty tissue are removed, while in the lower eyelids, only the fatty bags are removed.

It is a surgery that gives very good results, very superior results. The face looks rejuvenated without causing drastic changes in the image and without visible scars. In addition, unlike other cosmetic surgeries such as facelift, blepharoplasty or eyelid surgery is less invasive and has a shorter and more pleasant postoperative period.

Blepharoplasty postoperative period

As I announced, the postoperative period for this eyelid surgery is very short and does not require hospitalization because, in general, it is only performed under local anesthesia (unless general anesthesia is necessary for medical reasons) and, in many cases, at the same time. Once the procedure is performed, the eyes will be uncovered.

After blepharoplasty, the first week there may be a small swelling and sometimes small bruises. Therefore, during this time should be applied local cold several times a day and avoid physical exertion. It is also important to know that if stitches have been used in the surgery, they should be removed between four and seven days after the intervention, depending in any case on the evolution of the patient.
