Hyaluronic acid: a method to eliminate dark circles under the eyes

A type of hyaluronic acid with low hydrophilic capacity, meaning that it has a lower capacity to take up water than usual, is used to eliminate dark circles under the eyes. This reduces the risk of edema, i.e. an accumulation of fluid in the intercellular space, which does occur if specific products are not used.

What does the process consist of?

Hyaluronic acid is injected along the path of the nasojugal sulcus deeply and in small quantities. In this way, this furrow is corrected and the appearance of tiredness and aging caused by dark circles is improved. A check-up and, if necessary, a touch-up is required two weeks after the treatment.

What is the result?

This treatment has excellent results with a minimally invasive method in cases where dark circles under the eyes are caused by a marked nasojugal furrow without other associated signs. Cases should be studied by the physician individually since there are signs, such as hyperpigmentation, in which this treatment is not indicated.

The result of a correction of dark circles under the eyes with hyaluronic acid usually lasts between 6 and 9 months, and as a general rule this treatment will not cause bruising or other injuries, since it is performed using a blunt-tipped microcannula, a tool for facial fillers that does not injure the tissues.
