What is Orthokine (Regenokine) therapy?

Orthokine therapy (or Regenokine in the U.S.) is a procedure in which a patient’s blood is removed, manipulated and reintroduced back into the body, this therapy is used as an anti-inflammatory medication to reduce chronic pain and arthritis or osteoarthritis. The therapy is used in the treatment of meniscus tears, as a cell therapy for arthritis, in anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries and to treat cartilage damage from medial collateral ligament (MCL) injuries caused by sports injuries. This method is a way to treat these injuries and chronic pain without the use of drugs or foreign substances. It is a biological treatment and makes use of a person’s own body’s own proteins and healing factors.

The therapy is used to treat chronic pain.

What is the procedure for Orthokine therapy?

Blood is drawn from the patient’s vein and processed under special conditions. The blood is incubated at 37 degrees to stimulate the production of the anti-inflammatory protein Interleukin-1-receptor (IL-1Ra). The protein is extracted in a laboratory and packaged in ampoules, which will later be available in the form of injections. The serum obtained is then re-injected into the patient’s area of pain, such as the joints.

The injections are administered once or twice a week and patients are advised to avoid strenuous exercise for 48 hours.
