What is Belkyra?
Belkyra is a drug approved by the FDA to eliminate double chin fat. It is a synthetic drug that can reduce localized fat and firm subcutaneous planes. It is one of the first drugs to be approved for intralipotherapy, that is, the fusion of fat cells through simple punctures.
Why is it performed?
Belkyra is used by all those who want to reshape the imperfection of the double chin without resorting to cosmetic surgery. In this case, in fact, Belkyra is among the non-surgical lipomodeling treatments with which, thanks to infiltrations in strategic points of the double chin, the fat is eliminated, the skin becomes tighter and the area, therefore, more defined.
What does it consist of?
Belkyra simulates the behavior of deoxycholic acid, a natural substance present in our body. This acid has a cytolytic action, that is, it breaks the adipose cell membrane, dissolving the fat that is then reabsorbed into the body. Subsequently, the inflammatory reaction that occurs in the area produces scar tissue that has a restimulating effect, similar to the result of a facelift. It is a safe medication but, although non-surgical, the treatment should be performed only by experienced surgeons, as it is injected at certain strategic points. Preparation for Belkyra treatment Immediately prior to treatment, a plan is made of the area to be injected and the amount of product to be used. Sessions last approximately 30 minutes and are performed without anesthesia.
Post-treatment care
After treatment, the patient can immediately resume normal daily activities. Four to six sessions per month are required to gradually eliminate double chin fat and achieve a natural effect. The only side effect may be a slight swelling that disappears within a few hours. Results with Belkyra are not immediately visible, but may take up to three months for the full effects to occur.
