5D Ultrasound

What is 5D ultrasound?

5D ultrasound in pregnancy, introduced in early 2015, allows you to see your child in the womb in five dimensions. Thanks to technological developments in this field, ultrasound scans can be performed with great clarity. Compared to the initial two-dimensional ultrasound, 3D ultrasound that allows you to see the depth of the anatomical structure of the fetus and 4D ultrasound that allows you to observe fetal movements, 5D ultrasound allows you to capture extremely realistic videos in real time, with a detailed view of the features of the fetus through images that can even show the shades and nuances of the skin.

What does it consist of?

5D ultrasound is the latest step in diagnostic technology and is based on a type of ultrasound that captures real-time, three-dimensional images of the fetus in the mother’s womb. Using interactive glasses, you can watch a video of the baby in 3D as if it were materializing at that moment.

Why is it performed?

The 5D ultrasound is used to obtain accurate information about the characteristics of the fetus, such as the diagnosis of suspected diseases or malformations of the brain, face and lower or upper extremities. The best time to perform 5D ultrasound is between 23 weeks and 29 weeks.
