Functional Rehabilitation

What is functional rehabilitation?

Functional rehabilitation is a set of procedures, activities and interventions that tend to restore, maintain or improve physical, psychological, mental or social functionalities so that patients can perform their daily routines optimally. This will allow them to achieve maximum autonomy.

Functional rehabilitation can be carried out in a group or individually. On the one hand, individual sessions are focused on the specific needs of people who require special attention. On the other hand, in the group sessions we will work more on balance, maintenance of psychomotor skills, gymnastics, etc., all this to avoid, among others, the immobilization syndrome.

What does it consist of?

After the diagnosis and evaluation of the patient, the doctor will elaborate a treatment plan, where the methodology to be used and the number of sessions that will be necessary will be established. All this, in order to achieve maximum recovery of functional capacity through the combination of different techniques:

  • Manual therapy techniques
  • Electrotherapy
  • Thermotherapy
  • Physical exercise

Also, to complement the rehabilitation it is advisable to perform functional recovery sessions, in which your doctor can observe the improvement of the patient and the normalization of their activities. These sessions consist of:

  • Group sessions with about 3 people
  • Permanent supervision by a trainer
  • Access to the necessary equipment to exercise
