Breast augmentation with lipotransfer

What is breast augmentation with lipotransfer?

Breast augmentation with lipotransfer is a surgical procedure to increase the volume of the breasts using fatty material extracted from different areas of the patient’s body, usually from the abdomen or hips, as a filler. One of the biggest concerns is “what will be the final aspect of my breast”. Using fat the result is much more natural. The fat settles in the right place avoiding unnatural shapes.

Why is it done?

The use of fat grafting is the safest and most compatible technique to reshape and give a natural-looking volume to the breasts. Therefore, it is the best alternative to breast prostheses. More and more women, including breast cancer patients, are deciding to undergo this type of surgery to improve their self-esteem and finally feel satisfied with themselves.

What does it consist of?

The surgery consists in the extraction of fat from the chosen area through a liposuction or liposuction by means of pressurized water. Once the fat has been extracted, it is washed with serum to purify it. Then, to ensure a lasting result and prevent the fat from being reabsorbed, the infiltration or grafting of the fatty tissue is performed through small incisions by means of micro-cannulas under the skin. That is, inserting it intramuscularly.

Care after the operation

Breast augmentation with lipotransfer avoids visible scars, since the fat is extracted and introduced through small cannulas. The scar that remains after a mammoplasty using prostheses is usually about 4 centimeters and can be in three different areas: periareolar (around the areola, nipple), axillary or submammary (in the lower part of the breast, hidden in the breast fold).

The specialists advise patients to sleep on their backs during the first month, in addition to resting their upper limbs and taking the prescribed medication. The only disadvantage with breast augmentation with your own fat is that we need to take fat from one area of the body and put it in another, so in the postoperative period we will have to recover from two areas.
